Educative Program
| The educative program deals with all areas and levels of development -from preschool to workshops- aimed at social integration and joining the workforce. Its academic goal is the full integration of students in their social and work environment. This project provides educational opportunities that meet individual needs, with a comprehensive approach. We consider it of utmost importance to offer students a nurturing environment with constant stimuli. Guidelines include an early intervention program that is followed by a maternal care program, four levels of preschool and eight grades of special-education primary school, workshops and the Mexican School of Down Art. |
Early intervention
| The goal of early intervention is to attend to infants with Down Syndrome up to the age of three—a decisive phase in the development of any child. Beginning at birth, this program facilitates the growth process by providing children with the necessary means to develop their abilities and potential to the fullest. Parents’ participation is essential, and for this reason they are continuously provided with information needed for their child’s overall care, as well as professional guidance and emotional support. |
Speech Therapy
| Speech therapy is necessary to help children communicate and allow them to better express their ideas and thoughts. All of their senses are called upon to aid in the task. Speech is our primary means of communication and early stimulation is basic in order to obtain positive results. |
Playroom
| A space that preschoolers attend to foster social habits and abilities as well as reinforce what they learned in the classroom. At the same time, it is a space where students interact with each other naturally as they would at home, with their families; this allows teachers to identify patterns of behavior that might affect their development. |
Sports and Leisure Activities
| The curriculum offers various sports such as karate, basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, swimming and football; all of them require good psychomotor coordination but also foster socialization in group activities where participants must adapt to the rules of the game. These activities help students achieve proper posture and optimal motor skills. |
Socio-Sexual Eductaion
| This program’s goal is to help youths and adults with Down Syndrome behave responsibly and express themselves adequately in personal and social situations. |
Music, Dance and Theater
| Music, dance and theater form an essential part of students’ activities in the school’s comprehensive educational program. They stimulate sensory perception, foster communication skills and creativity; moreover, rhythm and melody are an aid to speech therapy and also help develop perceptive-motor aptitudes. |
Computer Science
| Computers are an excellent didactic tool, helping develop cognitive skills and reinforcing what students learned at school. |
Workshops
| Their goal is to introduce students to manufacturing processes, fostering their emotional development in order for them to subsequently find work. There are various workshops in which students develop manual skills and precise motor coordination abilities. |
